Creativity
November 28, 2011 No CommentsWe as humans are naturally creative creatures. When we allow ourselves to create without judgement, we are allowing our mind to quiet and our hearts to come alive. This is like practicing yoga, but off of the mat!
Did you ever notice that as kids we were always encouraged to create crafts, music, art, etc. – and as adults we are typically encouraged to analyze, and not to create? During the holiday season, as a child, we could give a drawing as a gift, no matter what it looked like — because it was created from a heart-centered space (without judgement) — it was beautiful! The child’s heart just bursts forth through their art.
When we create something, and we allow ourselves to just have fun with it, we are connecting with a core part of ourselves, we’re connecting with our heart, and allowing our minds to quiet down. This can be extremely relaxing and rejuvinating. So, this season, whether it’s an extra bit of creativity in the kitchen, writing a blog, or sitting down to do crafts with a friend or your children — create something! And notice how the mind relaxes and the heart comes alive.
PS
At the Holiday yoga crafts party at Karoun Yoga you can flex that creativity muscle! Your final product does not have to be framed as a work of art, but remember, it’s the journey, and not the destination!
